How to compare EV charger installation quotes

Compare the same job before comparing totals. Ask each installer to identify equipment, electrical work, approvals, handover and exclusions. A lower total may leave out work included in another quote.
Want this done at your property? Get an installer, or ask a question.
Mark each item Included, Excluded or Unclear, then resolve unclear items in writing. A photo-based estimate can be useful when it states its assumptions and what a later assessment may change.

Tesla lists permits, inspection and an installation warranty among standard items, with long runs and trenching as additional work.1 That is its guidance, not a promise about every contractor's quote.
Compare the same job
Quote A includes the charger and a short visible route. Quote B excludes the charger but includes a longer concealed route and wall repair. Agree the same equipment and route before comparing totals. Ask for a revised scope or separately priced option rather than assuming either contractor is overcharging.
For buildings, businesses and fleets
Add design/procurement, utility application, metering, accessibility, parking/signage, network setup, subscriptions, processing, service response and expansion provisions. Separate construction from operating cost. Confirm who owns accounts and data after handover.
Use published ranges carefully
The cost guide explains third-party home figures and their scope. A service upgrade or commercial project should not be judged against a basic home-install average. Keep assumptions and exclusions attached to the total.
Check the installer as well as the scope, then get an installer if you want another quote.

How to choose an EV charging installer
Look for authorization to perform the work in the actual jurisdiction, relevant project/product experience and a clear scope. A manufacturer badge does not replace an electrical license, and a low headline price does not describe the whole job.
