Who qualifies and how to apply

- Execute the grant contract and obtain required environmental approval before construction. Grantee must obtain State approval before purchasing goods or services under the contract and follow the approved procurement process; post-award reimbursement is not permission to incur unapproved costs.

Multifamily Housing Rebate Program for Level 2 Charging

A Volkswagen settlement rebate toward installing Level 2 chargers for residents at multifamily properties in Tennessee, paid after the installation is complete.
Who qualifies and how to apply
- How much
- 60% of total eligible project costs, up to $10,000 per charging plug at low-income or affordable housing or in a significantly burdened census tract, and up to $6,000 per plug at other developments; up to 10 plugs per site.
- Who qualifies
- Property owners, authorized property managers, homeowner associations and authorized lessees of multifamily housing in Tennessee with at least 4 units per site. Each site needs at least two plugs; chargers must be available to residents 24/7 and not open to the general public. Submitting a Rebate Reservation Request Worksheet before starting is strongly encouraged.
- When to apply
- A site-specific reservation request before starting is strongly encouraged, not stated as mandatory. TDEC’s approved letter reserves the estimated amount for 90 days; final rebate is based on completed eligible work and actual paid costs.
- Deadline
- No end date published. The September 23, 2026 funding snapshot includes reservations; see the dated funding limit. An approved reservation holds the estimated rebate for 90 days.
EV Charger Rebate (residential)
OpenHolston Electric Cooperative
A rebate on a new Level 2 home EV charger, paid as a credit on the member's Holston electric account.
Who qualifies and how to apply
- How much
- 100% of the charger equipment cost, up to $500; installation is not covered. One rebate per charger, and at most $500 per dwelling.
- Who qualifies
- Existing Holston residential electric customers with a current account in good standing who buy and install a new Level 2 (240-volt) charger and own or lease a battery-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle charged at home. Purchases made after October 1, 2020. Not for replacing an existing Level 2 charger, and not for chargers installed in newly constructed homes, condominiums, apartments or townhomes. The retail receipt, the vehicle's sales ticket or registration, and a photo of the installed charger are required.
- When to apply
- Form is due within 60 days after purchase and installation, with installed photo and vehicle/purchase evidence; Holston may require further verification before payment.
- Deadline
- No end date published; the rebate form is due within 60 days after the charger is installed. Holston reviews the program annually and says it may change or end without notice.
EV Ready residential bill credit
OpenMiddle Tennessee Electric
A $50 credit on the electric bill for residential members who wire their home for Level 2 EV charging, with a 240-volt outlet or a direct-wired charger.
Who qualifies and how to apply
- How much
- $50 bill credit on the member's next bill; the application lists $50 per charger.
- Who qualifies
- MTE home member installing 240V service for any-brand Level 2 or eligible EV outlet; current FAQ permits work/receipt in the past 12 months, and specifies/recommends a 50A outlet/service. Hardwired installation may receive additional review.
- When to apply
- Member form uses a completed installation and paid invoice within the preceding 12 months; MTE may verify before the member retains the bill credit.

EV Ready builder incentive (new homes)
OpenMiddle Tennessee Electric
An incentive of $50 per new home for builders and home developers who wire the garage with a 240-volt, 40-amp circuit to a NEMA 14-50R outlet, ready for Level 2 charging.

- Builders and home developers putting up new homes in Middle Tennessee Electric's territory; each home needs a 240-volt, 40-amp service to a NEMA 14-50R plug in the garage; the builder applies online, submits a W-9, and lets MTE inspect the installation.

- Use the separate builder agreement for promised new-home garage installations and allow MTE verification; the form does not publish a universal approval/payment timetable.

EV Charger Installation Rebate (home)

A one-time $50 rebate, paid as a credit on the energy bill, for installing a wired Level 2 charger at home.
Who qualifies and how to apply
- How much
- A one-time $50 rebate, delivered as a credit on the energy bill within 60 days.
- Who qualifies
- EPB residential customers, homeowners or renters with the landlord's permission; a wired, stationary Level 2 (208V or 240V) charger installed after October 1, 2023; the claim needs the electrician's dated receipt and a photo of the installed charger, and is made by signing in to the EPB account.
- When to apply
- The live form requests an electrician receipt and installed-charger photograph and states bill-credit payment within 60 days.
- Deadline
- No end date published; claims are taken through EPB's online rebate form.
