Window 2 accepts ready-to-build public fast-charger applications October 7, 2026–January 14, 2027. Hotels, charging hubs and business districts are excluded.
Who qualifies and how to apply
- How much
- 150–274.99 kW: up to $55,000 per port; 275+ kW: up to $100,000 per port; no more than 100% of approved costs
- Who qualifies
- Equipment owner/incentive recipient must be same entity as applicant; authorized California business/affiliate, nonprofit, government or eligible California Native American tribe representative; public sites; issued permit and final utility design or utility no-upgrade letter
- When to apply
- Submit during window and receive funds reservation before funded installation; ready-to-build permits/design required at application

- January 14, 2027 at 5 p.m. Pacific
SMUD Charge@Home
OpenSacramento Municipal Utility District
SMUD's eligible home equipment and contractor-network circuit installation incentives have separate caps; its advertised $850 combines a $100 charger with up to $750 qualifying circuit work.

- Charger up to $100; circuit-sharing/energy-management device up to $200; qualifying circuit installation up to $750
- Who qualifies
- SMUD residential customer; light-duty four-wheel plug-in vehicle DMV registration name/address match the utility account; owner permission where needed; eligible completed work
- When to apply
- Equipment may be already purchased; use the SMUD Contractor Network route for installation incentive, confirm qualifying design before work
- Deadline
- Eligible work after December 8, 2021; qualifying network circuit route effective May 1, 2023; no general end date stated
SMUD Commercial EVSE Incentives
OpenSacramento Municipal Utility District
SMUD's commercial program has equipment/power and equity-specific handle incentives, reserved funds before construction and separate metering/LCFS requirements.
Who qualifies and how to apply
- How much
- Non-equity Level 2 $2,500 (<6.6 kW) or $3,500 (6.6 kW+); non-public DCFC $7,500 (<50 kW), $15,000 (50–149.9 kW) or $30,000 (150 kW+) per handle. Current equity table doubles these amounts.
- Who qualifies
- SMUD commercial electricity service customer/site, eligible equipment owner/applicant/payee and licensed contractor; equity designation must be confirmed under current requirements
- When to apply
- Apply and receive SMUD Reservation of Incentive before construction
